PERFECTIONISM and its resulting fear of failure and disapproval--lead one to manifest the next TRANSPLUTO quality, SELF-SUFFICIENCY.

SELF-SUFFICIENCY is a self-protecting mechanism whereby others can never get so close to you that they can see the cracks in your facade and find reason to criticize you, or try to change you, or tell you what to do.

If you experience a personal failure others are never close enough to discover that failure and therefore be able to make recriminations. When your self-sufficiency is being undermined by another person your reflex reaction will be--to be very critical of the critic--driving the critic away and thus reestablishing your self-sufficiency!

The house position of TRANSPLUTO shows where we psychologically need to be self-efficient. Self-sufficiency is the TRANSPLUTONIAN ideal.

Perfection is not a practical ideal--since it is impossible to achieve, but self-sufficiency is possible.

On a Karmic level, the emphasis of TRANSPLUTO (& any hard aspect with the sun or the moon in your chart) suggests that one of your parents (the more authoritarian one) was necessary in your life, to agitate you into becoming first perfectionistic and then self-sufficient, concerning the matters that are governed by the birthchart house in which TRANSPLUTO is found.

The REFORMER-COMPLEX involves maintaining high standards and continually making improvements. In TRANSPLUTO there is a Virgo-type idealism reflected in its quest for perfection. However it is an idealism seen through the eyes of a critic. This idealism can not be satisfied because you will always be aware of the flaws, yet continually seeking perfection.

The concern is that anyone influenced by TRANSPLUTO will want to change, reform, or reconstruct people and the world around them according to their own personal view point--rather than as would be best for those people, who are affected most.

ALIENATION refers to an anxiety-avoidance reaction that shields a person from a painful reminder of a personal recollection of an arche- typical failure--that drew harsh criticism from the critical PARENT. Consequentially one may avoid working closely with others in order not to be SUBJECTED to criticism.

Close relationships may prove difficult to establish. People who manifest their TRANSPLUTO influence in this manner react defensively. When dependency becomes a problem in that it allows others to become close enough to criticize (try to change or tell one what to do) alienation occurs. Often a critical exchange of words served to effect that alienation.

Why does this new planet TRANSPLUTO not have a name like the other planets?

Other planets have been named after ancient myths and mythological beings. These were archetypes meant to represent a type of human personality.

If this is to be more than a theoretical planet, if this is to represent a human psychological archetype, what name is it to be called?

There have been other several names suggested for this undiscovered planet. Following the tradition of naming such heavenly bodies after ancient mythological beings, certain rules must be followed.

What rules?

Mythological beings as a rule are either not mortal (of the earth) or semi-mortal (semi-divine).

The first name suggested was based on the Greek Myth of PERSEPHONE.

Perephone was a beautiful, extremely virtuous young Goddess. In the myth she was abducted by the God of the underworld, PLUTO, and stolen away to his kingdom of Hades. He had seen her picking flowers in a beautiful garden--but no flower present was as beautiful or pure as she. Pluto was bewitched by her virtuous beauty. Immediately he took her to be his wife, forcing her into the marriage vow against her will.
